The Secret to Less Painful Waxing & Sugaring

When it comes to hair removal, the one thing we all worry about is how much it will hurt. And while the pain is only temporary, of course we want the experience to be as comfortable as possible.

There are a few different things you can do to make your appointment less painful, but this is THE ONE THING that can make or break your waxing/sugaring experience. It's so important, I require clients to acknowledge it in their intake paperwork.

The #1 secret? HYDRATION. Meaning, how much water have you have to drink in the last 48 hours. Not tea, not coffee, not energy drinks, just water.

Why? When you are dehydrated, the skin physically shrinks a bit, closing around the hair follicle, and causing the skin to grip the hair tighter. Getting waxed when you're dehydrated HURTS A LOT MORE. And in extreme cases, the hair won't come out. Worst case scenario - you're left with a partially done Brazilian and have to come back in a couple of days when you're hydrated.

So how do you make sure this doesn't happen to you? A couple of days before your sugaring or waxing appointment, start drinking LOTS of water. The more the better. Whether you get sugared regularly or only occasionally, you will notice the appointment being faster and less painful. The difference is huge.

And if you roll in for your 9am appointment with only coffee or an energy drink in your system - prepare for some intense sensation.
